Some instructors add a booking fee to online credit card payments. This article explains what the fee is and why it's there.

Updated today

What is the booking fee?

The booking fee is an optional charge that instructors can add to credit card payments to help cover administrative costs associated with online bookings.

If an instructor has the booking fee enabled, you'll see it as a line item during checkout before you confirm payment.

Why is there a fee?

Some instructors choose to add a small fee for the convenience of paying by credit card online. Others don't charge one at all.

How instructors control it

In Account β†’ Payment tab, instructors can toggle the booking fee on or off:

  • On (default): A fee is added on top of the lesson price at checkout. The student pays the fee. The instructor receives the full lesson price.

  • Off: No fee is added. The student pays the exact lesson price. The instructor covers any processing costs out of their earnings.

Good to know

  • The booking fee only applies to credit card payments. Offline payments and package credits are not affected.

  • The fee amount is shown to the student during checkout before they confirm payment.

  • Not all instructors charge a booking fee β€” it depends on how they've set up their account.
