You can refund a credit card payment directly from the lesson — you don't need to use the Stripe portal, however you still can.
How to refund
Open the lesson from My Lessons.
In the payment section, tap Refund.
The amount defaults to the full remaining balance. Enter a smaller figure to issue a partial refund.
Confirm.
The payment status changes to Refunded or Partial refund, and your reports update immediately.
What happens to the booking fee?
The booking fee comes back to you whenever a charge is refunded, in full or proportionally for a partial refund.
Stripe's own processing fee is not returned — that's Stripe's policy, and why the booking fee exists, so you can protect yourself from additional processing fees.
Can I still refund from my Stripe Dashboard?
Yes. Refunds you issue in Stripe still work, and the booking fee still comes back
to you. SwingMatch picks them up automatically, though it can take up to a day
before your reports catch up.
Refunding from the lesson is faster and keeps everything in one place — it also
tags the refund in Stripe with the lesson it came from, so your Stripe records stay
readable later.
Good to know
You can refund more than once on the same payment, up to the original amount.
You can't refund more than Stripe still has available on that charge.
If Stripe doesn't respond, don't retry with a different amount — check your Stripe Dashboard first to confirm whether the refund went through.
Refunds apply to credit card payments only. For package credits, cancelling a lesson restores the credit automatically. Offline payments are settled directly between you and the student.
