Starting a group chat (Instructors)
Open a group lesson from your schedule.
Tap Start Group Chat.
The chat is created and you're taken to it. All enrolled students are automatically included.
If a group chat already exists for that session, the button changes to Open Group Chat.
1-way vs 2-way communication
By default, students can send messages in the group chat. You can change this at any time:
Open the group chat.
Tap the menu (top right).
Select Disable student messages to make it 1-way (only you can send messages).
To re-enable, tap the menu again and select Enable student messages.
Use 1-way mode when you just want to send announcements without replies.
Notifying students via SMS
When sending a message in a group chat, you'll see a Notify students via SMS checkbox. Check it to send an SMS notification to all participants along with your message. This is useful for last-minute updates like weather cancellations, location changes, or reminders.
Where to find group chats
Group chats appear in your Chat list alongside your direct conversations. You can also access them from the group lesson detail page.
Good to know
New students who book after the chat was created are added automatically.
Additional participants added during checkout (e.g., friends or kids) are not included in the group chat. Only the student who made the booking receives chat messages and SMS notifications.
Group chats support text and media (photos/images), just like direct messages.
Only the instructor can create the group chat and control communication settings.
If an instructor's schedule is fully booked, the booking page shows a message button with a pre-written message asking about availability.
